    Cumberland Help

I'll be heading down to Cumberland tomorrow night to celebrate New Years and am bringing the boat. I've not fished Cumberland much and never for smallmouth. I'll be putting in at Jamestown and don't want to run too far since I'm not too familiar with the lake. Should I live bait with shiners casting to the bank and working them back? Should I focus on mouths of creeks, points, both? Any help is appreciated!

Fished Clifty Creek this morning with shiners from the marina to the back of the creek and struck out. Had some battery problems and didn't want to get out on the main lake. Will get a new battery and work on the boat and try and go again this afternoon and tomorrow.

If you still have shiners; go into Pumpkin Creek and when you see the 1st cut on the right hand side start fishing there. This area has been productive in recent years for us shiner fishing. I caught my personal best in this area on Black Friday. A 5 1/2# smallmouth stud. Good luck

I also caught my personal best smallmouth in Pumpkin Creek. Farther back in the creek past the ramp, 5 1/2 lber as well on a swimbait. Other than that fish, I don't really do well with crankbaits/jigs back there.
