Boatless Angler, what are my options for winter?

Like the title says, I don't have a boat, which usually isn't too big of a problem when it's warmer out but kinda limits my options during winter. I live around Lexington, and would be willing to drive an hour or so. What kind of places should I go to fish from the bank and what can I fish for?

Before I owned a boat, I'd fish tailwaters or the fossil bed area. There are sauger to be caught below the McAlpine upper dam and usually crappie at the Taylorsville tailwater. Both are extremely dependant on the water being released but both have great potential. 2nd option, get to know a boater who has knowledge of a couple hot spots during the winter.

Tailwaters. Sauger, blues, maybe trout in the right places.

Try the fins lakes too. Some lakes the crappie will run up the creeks.
