    Spectrum Cable

Last fall I cut my cable bill from about $178 to about $82 a month. Basically kept internet/phone (had to take the phone as part of the package) and some local channels. About a month ago they got me to upgrade for a little more a month and they gave me better speed and some channels (golf channel was what sold me) that I really liked and that brought me to about $100 a month.

So recently they said well we moved the Golf channel to another package and to get it back or will cost you $12 a month. So I said no thanks and I'll go back to my old plan since I really don't watch that much tv and with it being spring/summer and then fall i will be outside way more often anyway.

The guy helping me (Victor) was polite and well spoken and told me he would see what he could do. Actually the first person who answered said she really couldn't help me so she sent me to another department.

Anyway, back to Victor....10 minutes later he says how about I give you that channel back and HBO, Showtime and other movie channels along with a bunch of channels I didn't have to begin with for the same your spending now! I had to ask how he could do that and what the catch was? The catch is in one year I have to go through this all over again because my fates will go up again....no biggie because that's how it works with the cable providers. You have to fight them once or twice a year. So for now I'm happy but I really don't care about all these channels. Just didn't want my rates going up again. One day I may go off the grid😎

I play the same game...about every 12 months...

Heck, I've got Spectrum for the mac-daddy cable internet speed (we have to have it for my wife's job) and when I called them a couple of months ago they lowered my rate $20/mo for no real reason. The lady looked at my account and goes "I'm not real sure why you've been paying what you've been paying...our rate is lower than that."

At first I was happy...then kinda felt like I'd been getting screwed for the last year. Every one of them is a Communist plot. LOL

So far, I can't really complain about Spectrum, but I only have them for Internet.

I have to fight them every six month/ year too

They are money grubbing SOB and will take as much money from you as you let them. I threaten to drop them and go to another cable company. I'm talking about wowway.com though. They are all the same. They will try to raise your rates every six months to a year and then provide you with less channels. I've lost some of the local channels. I don't watch golf as I'd rather watch the history channel and shows about WWII. They took that away from me too. Now I have to watch American Pickers which I detest most of the time. I want WWII aviation battles type shows as that's what I enjoy. I watch fishing shows if they have them. I get so many channels that I don't even want to watch. Shopping channels, Spanish speaking only type channels are something I can do without. But they include them in the package. I wish we could buy the channels we want a la cart.

I get internet and cable tv. For phone I still use AT&T for my Landline phone and Verizon for my Smartphone. I pay out the wazoo for all this. I was going to kill my landline phone and just keep the cell phone but never did that. So I pay double what I should. I use to not have cable TV but added that a few years back. I went for many years with just free airwave broadcast TV. I have a new Digital antenna that I've never used yet. But if the cable goes out I can hook it up to the TV and still watch the local Broadcast TV for Free. I grew up with FREE TV all my life. Kids these days are new to Free TV. LOL Talk about a generation gap? Things sure have changed faster in the last ten years that in the last 50 years. I'm still fighting with Microsoft to get them to fix my Windows 10 and my new Windows 10 MAIL program to play nice with my Hotmail email accounts that I've had for over 17 years now. I have Office 2013 and I use Outlook 2013 for my emails. And I found that the Smartphone's Outlook App actually syncs up with my Office 2013 Software program on my Desktop Computer using Windows 10. But I still get notifications that the Hotmail accounts are all out of date when I use Windows 10. Now it's so bad that I had to turn off the MAIL notifications in Windows 10 just to be online without ten mail notifications popping up every 30 seconds. I was not able to get anything done unit I blocked the notifications for Microsoft Mail on my Desktop Computer. I've spent hours on the phone with Microsoft trying to get this fixed. They even remotely go into my computer at least 6 times now and tried to fix the Mail Program and get it to play nice with Office 2013 Outlook and my computer. It's still not fixed.

Cable TV is a breeze to use compared to my email accounts.

Keep fighting with them and don't let them roll over your. Glad to see you won the last fight with them and got the channels back. That's one for the consumers.
