Fished the Bluegrass Kayak Anglers tournament this past weekend on Dale Hollow. we had just under 50 anglers. I fished Illwill Creek and found it to be about 5-6' higher than when I was there 2 weeks ago. Water temps were about 71-72. From everything I could see either the bass were about done spawning or the high water covered em all up. Even though the water was high it was still pretty clear, lots of debris in the water though. The smallies are eating however. I struggled and only caught a couple on a texas rig plastic craw. winner was out closer to the main lake targeting smallies with tubes. I did however catch my PB smallmouth for the state of KY, I don't know I'll ever beat my real PB of a 7.4# Sm from St. Clair. But I was thrilled with this 20.5" 6# KY tank that won me big fish for the event and $200.
