Gonna be kayak fishing elkhorn creek with small group this weekend. We all have our own kayaks. Thinking we put in at peaks mill bridge and take out at stillwaters campground to avoid the canoe ky crowd on upper section. Anyone with experience on this creek know if upper portion or lower portion is better for smallmouth? If upper portion is better we may put in at knights bridge instead
The upper portion of what you describe IMO has better water, but it gets more fishing pressure than the lower. The lower section will take you through the Fish Hatchery where there are some deep holes. The hatchery is also a public access point, so those holes get pressured as well, but not as much as the upper stretch you're describing.Gonna be kayak fishing elkhorn creek with small group this weekend. FYI, there is a huge "Tube-A-Thon" at Still Waters on Saturday. They'l be floating mostly around the campground, but there will be hundreds of folks there and some will probably take a longer float and put in above Still Waters as well.
