They definitely do, but they control their currency, and manipulate it quite a bit........we do too, but we've never , NOT once defaulted on what we owe......China, well.

And a downturn in their economy could be dangerous worldwide.

I still think they own the market with shipping cheap ass goods to stupid people.

I buy American when I can, and I buy local when I can. Unfortunately, that is only about 20% of the time, because product doesn't exist, or it is too expensive to afford.
