Is there any rock fish around louisville areas..new in town
Yes, they are called "striped bass" or "stripers" here, since they are landlocked. There are also hybrids from Striped Bass and white bass that everyone calls "Hybrids". They are in the Ohio River and many lakes, most notably Lake Cumberland, and in the Cumberland river below the dam. Hybrids in many of the larger lakes...search for "stripers". "hybrids", and "strippers" and there is plenty of information!
No, no, no .... whatever you do, don't do a search for "strippers" (especially if you're married) LOL !!!Yes, they are called "striped bass" or "stripers" here, since they are landlocked. Lake Cumberland would be your primary "rock fish" lake. (only lake stocked with Stripers)
Taylorsville Lake or Guist Creek Lake would be the closest lakes to Louisville area for Hybrids, but I believe Barren River Reservoir would have larger Hybrids.
Yes, below mcalpine dam in downtown louisville. You put in in indiana. Lots of rocks so you have to be careful and current is very dangerous. I don't go down there if the lower gauge is 12' or above. It takes a while to learn the different water flows from the dam. I would not get near the big tainter gates. They **** you in. Make sure your trolling motor is working as a backup.
Usee the two search boxes at the top right of this forum to get a lot more info.
Fall is good there if the water is not too high.
