Cries of Injustice
Like echoes
In a dark cold cavern
Come the cries of injustice
Poverty
Starvation
Natural disasters
Un-equality
The forgotten elderly
Windows
Orphans
The abused
War devastation
All perspiring pain
Heartache and sorrow
Some deserving
Some not
Where do the dark shadows
Of injustice end
Maybe it is when we seek change
Within ourselves…
Be educated in truth
Change of attitudes base on love
Seek wisdom above all other
These can allow the shadows of injustice
To be stretched and diluted
Why do we become social parasites
Seeking political handouts
Taking the easy way out
Living off hard working people
Do we not allow it as voters
Once dependent on civil gifts
The chains of dependency
Are difficult to unlock
Let not the fear of failing
Rob our desire to …
Become educated and independent
Improve the world around us
Work to serve mankind
May our shadows be not angry
May our tears be not of self-petty
May we look to the one True Light
For guidance in the darkest of night
You cannot limp into heaven
Nor can you run through hell
“You are gonna to serve somebody
It may be the devil
Or it may be the Lord
But you are gonna to serve somebody”
Only time will tell
Poem by: Roy L. Nave
