I have seen lots of the things you speak of, and on the road to some of the places where I saw lots of the nice things you speak of, I saw places where people lived that looked like the structure was ready to collapse, fl has over 20 million residents, when they all head north to escape a hurricane disaster, the states between here and there fill up quick, opening up campgrounds isn't a handout, it is a helping hand. I saw on tv where a man opened his furniture store, to people needing a place to shelter from the storm, now when this is over the guy can't sell his furniture at a new price, what would cause him to do this, it is a thing call compassion, a feeling one gets in their heart when another person is suffering, the guy has a compassionate heart, he wasn't giving a handout to those folks, he was showing them love, brotherly love. something you can read about in the bible, i think it's in the book of first Corinthians, where it says of all the gifts, the greatest gift you can have is charity, { Love, Brotherly Love } where would we { all, every last one of us } end up, if Jesus Christ didn't have compassion for us, when he died on the cross for us, he didn't do it as a handout, he did it because he had compassion for us, we were suffering and in need, so he did it showing us his love

Kudos to that business owner for deciding to do that....his decision and that's the way it should be. Personally, tossing religion into it is unfair. I don't care what religion of choice either. For this guy in the end it's a business decision. He would not go out of business to help others but he will help others based on his personal beliefs but that has limits and only he knows them.

I lived in Orlando for many years through high school and as a young adult. We also had issues with people from out of state. The attitude of " this isn't how we do it back home" was rampant. Now down there in some areas it's more like this is the way we do it back home...so you better speak Spanish or you won't understand much!

    Jmho but:
    1. Fl resident pays ky campground owner at normal rates.
    2. Fl resident keeps receipt and gets fed tax right off equal to amount spent
    3. Fl resident gets federal help
    4. Ky business campground pays his fed income tax and in effect thruninvome and taxes pays back fed govt.

Pure rocket science to some. 😜😜😜

this is really an educational site, I'm an old man and never new until i read it on here, that folks from Louisiana were foreigners. I always thought they were Americans just like the rest of us are,

Compassion. Some have it some don't. It's clear who has it.

Great Post Waterdog. Some of the GOP in here don't have much compassion for others. That's clear to see. Giving these refuges a price break is not going to hurt anyone. It's an act of kindness. Look at the devastation that's taken place in the South. First it was Texas and not it's Florida. Jose is out there spinning around in the Atlantic right now and no one really knows where it will hit the US next. Most all of Florida was just hit by this massive hurricane that spread over the entire state width of Florida. We are just now able to fly over the state and see the devastation from this Irma Hurricane.

Ohhhh please, stop with the grandstanding. When are you planning on leaving to go help? Sending money? Doing anything about it aside from posting about how others should spend their money???

I believe most conservatives have more compassion than liberals. It's more than talking about it...it's doing something about it. It doesn't take a hurricane to get compassion from me or most conservatives but liberals???? Hahahahaha remember your party mantra "dont let a serious crisis go to waste"!!!!

I guarantee my little group of Conservative friends have donated more time, money, effort to these types of events than all of the LIBS I know......

    GUARANTEE.

. My friend, I know what you mean, assuming from what some say in their post,
Sure makes one wonder about some folks, like when other Americans are referred to as ( them people ) and when someone disagrees with them on a subject, they call them bad names, and some things that are said about the folks that speak another languages, these things sure make one assume that there isn't much compassion in their heart, but assuming it from what their post say, don't make it so. Some folks talk with tough love about others, to make themselfs look strong, some folks think if they show love and kindness to another person, it makes them look weak.
