    I don't know near the amount of information Stripernut,and Duayne know about Cumberland.It Seems If I remember, it was quite the opposite. The Striper were stocked for shad /alewives control. Chuck

    was fishing in the back of Indian today and did not see any shad dying , had up to 54 degree water temp and caught 17 on jerk baits and shakey heads , pretty good Feb. day

    I should say shad control that turned into alewives control also. Chuck

    Funny how we all remember thing differently , I thought the stripers were put in to eat all those nasty trout that was in the lake back then.lol

    ok chuck you have just made me remember how much i have forgotten over time lol.
    about a 100 years ago we would fish for white bass and walleye at night with gas lanterns fashioned with tin foil for max light on the water. there were nights we couldnt fish for the trout, big ones too. and then in an instant it was over, the 30-40lb stripers would raid the party and all that was left were broken lines and hurt feelings.
    my grandmother was still alive back then and she cursed the "strip-ed a$$ devils", unless we actually got one in the boat, then she was heatin the grease.

    A big shad die off coupled with heavy generation makes for fantastic fishing below the dam!
