i wouldn't want just any teacher to carry either.
some are too batty.
i had a few i would have complete confidence in carrying.
i think a guard is a better immediate solution.

First of all, my son is a teacher, and he says he will NOT carry a gun.Second, WHY if you want teachers to carry, why conceal it? Open carry is a greater deterent than wondering if a person is armed. In KY an open carry state, mine was holstered on my left side close to my arm pit in plain sight, but only when I walked my dog. Arming teachers will do one thing, bring MORE weapons into a public area, in my opinion, there are NO gun accidents, just dumbass users and practisers.

Timing is everything in a gun fight. He who shoot first and most accurately will win the fight. Surprise is your friend. You do know what the bad guys to know you are armed until you shoot them. That's why is best to carry concealed.First of all, my son is a teacher, and he says he will NOT carry a gun.Second, WHY if you want teachers to carry, why conceal it? Now the police wear special holsters that allow them to be the only one that knows how to get the gun out of the holster That way some one can't come up behind the policeman and steal his gun right out of his holster as easily if it were a regular non protected holster.
Uniformed police generally wear the holster/gun Outside the Waist Belt. But Detectives cover up their service pistols and carry concealed.
I think I would prefer to have armed people inside the school ready to repel a school shooter than to ban AR15 rifles which I use to hunt with.
Money is the problem. It cost more money to hire trained guards. Teachers are already on campus and some are very capable of being trained to use a gun. Not every policemen is prepared to do what's necessary as we saw down in Florida where the Sheriff Deputy failed to engage the school shooter. But there are men who are not afraid to engage the enemy.
I agree money is an issue and I can't imagine a viable plan from the gubment to place armed guards or metal detectors in every public place of learning. It boggles the mind at how much money it would take to cover 100,000 schools (guessing the number) then add in the cost of equipment, insurance, construction if metal detectors are used, training and upkeep. Of course IMO, banning guns is silly and will never happen but I can see some "soft pitch" legislation coming. I

know something has to be corrected with the direction of this country but what?
Maybe they will nationally expand a current police force and cover the schools? Still comes down to money because guns in general ain't going anywhere...that cat is out of the bag. I am a gun owner and enjoy my semi-auto handguns and long guns so I lean toward not messing with my right to bear arms.
I know many retired police, and never fired there weapon in there career, and most never had to, so to fire on a human needs a very unique DNA or wired so to speak, not everyone could do it. Tuff call.

i agree.
i've had nightmares about killing somebody.
i wouldn't want the responsibility.
BUT, i probably could if they were shooting at me, my family or anyone defenseless.
Folks die everyday, illness, storms, planes, trains, buses, hospitals, schools malnutrion, freezing . Been happening for quite some time, and will continue, this will go away soon, and repeat it self in another form. But you know something, I'd rather watch commercials than dumb kids talk about something that they have no control over now, and will forget it when a new phone app comes out.

I'm arguing with the anti gun people almost every day and they are after the AR15 right now big time. We have people discussing the wounds caused by different type bullets. Some lady doctor or radiologist is showing pictures of wounds on human bodies on the internet site that I go to. They are talking physics. Now I know that the army designed the 5.56 round to tumble though the body to create a larger wound cavity. The 5.56 round was designed for Vietnam and war. But not all 5.56 rounds are the same and I use that to disarm the Good Doctors' presentation when she talks about the "Standard" AR15 bullet. She is ignorant in the ways of Arms and Bullets and thinks that there is one "Standard" Cartridge in the 5.56 caliber. That is the weakness that I attacked on her presentation to the liberals anti gun people on this web site that I frequent.I agree money is an issue and I can't imagine a viable plan from the gubment to place armed guards or metal detectors in every public place of learning. And my standard come back is the 2nd amendment of course. The use of the word Shall instead of the word May. Big different in legal jargon.
But that won't stop the anti's from coming after our AR15 and trying to pass laws to limit the size of the magazines we use. I'm about ready to send money to the NRA as they are under heavy attack. I never did join the NRA and still enjoyed their protection of my gun rights. But I think I'll join them now and help fund them.

How many rounds did you use on your hunting trip?Lets see how many deer are you allowed to kill per trip. I wasn't much of a deer hunter, went twice, fired one shot from q 12 gauge, gave the deer away. Ducks and geese were my choice for game, along with pheasants and a few rabbits. We were limited to 3 rounds for a shot gun, the 3rd was just a wave good bye. What would you do if they only limited 6 rounds for your hunting rifle? give up the sport? doubt it.I mean it when I say that everyone should have the right to own firearms, 21 i had an M_1 when I was 19 and my uncle sam taught me how to shoot, field strip it, and fix a bayonet to it. If you're going to use the mental health thing, crazy people drive cars. Who determins whether you're nuts? At criminal trials both sides argue mental health, and both experts have the same degrees in a lot of cases. They are called the "medical arts" for a reason.. why do you think they have mal practise insurance?
There are 100,000 public schools, not including private schools. Most are quite small, and 1 officer would do. Others would require more than 1.Timing is everything in a gun fight. IF you averaged 2.5 officers per school, and paid them 55k a year.......you'd need about 15 billion a year.......
I'd be fine with that. Pay them out of some federal marshals service, money, and make them marshals.

here is my thoughts on arming teachers and I have a granddaughter in her senior year of becoming a teacher she told me she would learn how to shoot a gun and would become proficient in shooting if she could have a gun to protect her kids. I heard that the hero coach owned a hand gun, if he would take a bullet for his students he would have tried to take down this cowardly shooter if he would have been allowed to have his gun in school.
I red an article from an expert who has been studying school shootings since Columbine he has some very interesting ideas that I hope will get some serious attention. He does not support gun control. The Florida shooter had the police to his house over twenty times the FBI were tipped off as were local law enforcement agencies and they failed their public. Part of the problem is the police can't act until a crime is committed although in this case the threat he was making would be enough for the police to act. Also when the back ground check was done he had no police record and that is horrible this guy has a clean record. The idea I liked the most from this article was he want to pass a law where you can get a gun restraining order on anyone like this until they can be evaluated for mental illness or maybe forever if it is warranted this way we are only restricting guns to those who need it not an entire population of law abiding citizens. Being realistic I doubt this would do a lot of good and the reason I am against gun control is these people will get guns one way or another but this might give law enforcement one more arrow in their quill.
Yes more and more guns into reach of the public, I'm not against everyone carrying a weapon in plain sight. But the time WILL come when some tacher[some teachers are loony toons also] will demand that they be allowed to have an assault rifle.. Really why not include bullet proof vests also.So when the kooks find that schools become fortresses, what will they attack next? What Cain use to kill abel? The problem with people is other people.
