And the talking heads in fishing will say........Cumberland was one of the "best" tourneys we've had, based on all participants having success...........
NO, they didn't have success, and on any other day, they would have been disqualified for short fish..........hahahahahahahahahhaha.
PISSES me of.

AND....AND...to keep this in greater perspective Geo, if you and i were just out "fun" fishing during this time period, and we would have kept a 13 inch largemouth, WE would have received a ticket for posession of an ILLEGAL fish....And the talking heads in fishing will say........Cumberland was one of the "best" tourneys we've had, based on all participants having success...........

that my friend is quite concerning!
I have personally discussed this with an employee of the KDFW. I was checked by a KDFW creel survey guy about a month ago on Green River Lake. When done with his survey I ask him about the reduced size limit for the FLW tournament and he was aware of it but did not have full details. In fact I kind of knew more than him because he was not aware it was more than the FLW tournament that had the reduced size limit until I told him about it and it also included events on Cave Run Lake.
I nicely told him I felt like KDFW was peeing on my shoes and trying to convince me it was raining. He actually took my phone number and called me back a few days later to discuss the issue along with many other various things. He was very nice but really could not give a definite answer as to why they are allowing this. The "Official" news release says it is being done so they can do a mortality study. Whoever the person was that gave the decision to announce that as the reason should be awarded public relations person of the decade. Really a mortality study on bass when the water temperature is mid 50's. They are at the peak of good health going into the spawn. If you want to truly know how much delayed mortality is then do the study when it is more prone to happen like May or June when the water temperature is 70* or more and the fish are stressed from the spawn. Based on KDFW logic I bet they study the mating habits of snakes in December.
The news release that says they are doing this for a delayed mortality study goes on to conveniently say the FLW tournament is a big economic money maker for the local economy...If you wear a tin foil hat or if you have common sense it does not matter because a dumb person could figure out why they reduced the size limit for select tournaments $$$$$. If it was not for money then why not do a delayed mortality study on the local bass club. Maybe it's because they don't buy motel rooms. If you're blind to what I am saying then you will never see the light.
Now I have had my rant but I want to be clear. I truly do not have a problem with them reducing the size limit "IF" it was for one large event and they actually done a delayed mortality study at the peak of when fish are stressed. What burns me is them telling me it is a study when the conditions are not strong to have the impact you are studying for. Then they go on and talk about economic impact the study will have. Economic impact should be totally irrelevant to a delayed mortality study. If your studying the loss of fish because of stress then why even be concerned if FLW or any other event is buying motel rooms, gas and eating at restaurants...thanks KDFW for peeing on my shoes but I am not convinced it is rain.
Here is the KDFW news release...If you believe this then I would like to sell you some prime swamp land in the Himalaya Mountains.
