Herrington Lake clean?

I have always avoided Herrington Lake because I have heard horror stories about how dirty it is. Is it still really bad? This is the one lake that I haven’t been too, and its actually the cosest one to my house. Would be taking my kayak out there, looking to catch some fish.

I wouldn’t eat the fish. Lots of crappie and hybrids. Some big flatheads
