Cumberland River trout?

These fella's did pretty good fishing out of my place down from Burkesville. Kind of bums me out seeing that many dead fish but its their right to keep them if they want. The fish in the front is a sauger. Spoons and spinners, gold. Week before last.

I have a place to rent with a boat ramp but do not do shuttles. I live in Indy so the commute would kill me.
Mutty Waters in Burkesville will do it for you though. Not sure how they charge. You can check out my place at

Well, the generation schedule for the river is still 2 or more for 24 hr/day, as of 6/30.

Does anyone have a guess if that will continue over the holiday? I know that was a lot of rain, but things have been decent recently.

the lake is currently at 725+ , I would expect that schedule to stay the same for at least a few days as there are still some heavy rains east of the lake.
but this is nothing more than a guess so dont let it affect your decision

Lake Cumberland is 1.3 ft over summer pool on 7/1 so they will be pulling a small amount of water. What most people don't know is the winter drawdown for Cumberland starts in July. It's a long slow process because they do not pull it as fast as most other lakes that have a winter drawdown.

I am going to provide a link that shows historical water levels. It has the past 3 years on it but if click on the years below the chart you can add more years. If history repeats itself there will current in the river from now until November...

I agree, R19. It would be difficult to go against the historical data.

Well, I know this: that river will still be a spectacular sight, and very comfortable to be around with these 90 degree temps.

I have to second that, beautiful place, makes me want to book a few days and I live minutes from the river lol

We love it down there. Keep putting in extras. Next year my wife wants to
retire down there so we'll have to build something on the other 3.5ac or go
on vacation to Idaho or somewhere for the summer and still rent the house!

Hey! If any of you guys are around next saturday the 6th stop by! BBQ, Woodfired Pizza,
Homemade Ice Cream, Roasted Corn. Cornhole, Horseshoes, Croquet. Bring your kids or not.

We were on the river last weekend (6/21-6/23) and caught some nice Browns and Bows from the dam down to Long Bar. We had two Rainbows over 21" and some nice Browns. Stripers laying below the dam we caught with crankbaits.
