I guess you all want me to give you the answer. I thought there would be more of you guys to respond to this question. So, here goes. Largemouth bass suspend in depths of 1 to 3 feet of water before spawning because they have to acclimate their badder pressures and well as their body temperature to shallow water conditions before spawning. A good reference to watch is Paul Roberts' u-tube video on "Largemouth Bass Behavior: The Spawn." Roberts is an expert in "Fishery Management."
