The hump near the dam is a great spot. Tops out at about 9 ft deep depending on lake level.
Take a cast net and catch some shad, no need to keep them alive, just keep them in a bucket with some water - they should be about 2" or 3" long, place them on a hook and drop to the bottom on that hump. Move around on the hump until you find the school, once you find the school you should be able to wear them out. I find that using bait caught from the lake tends to have better results than most other baits.

Blues have been stocked in Taylorsville Lake since the mid 90's. I believe the 97 pounder caught there was 5 pounds off the state record.
