my father was a drafted veteran of ww2 serving in japan.
he never used the VA until his last year. he was taught to pay his own way and so was i.
i'm not a veteran and i'm not a fighter.
they would have had to make me a mechanic or something.
i was in the draft lottery for vietnam and drew a high number and i was in college.
i admire all drafted veterans.
being a young naive kid, i probably would have gone to vietnam if i got drafted.
i have friends that went and some didn't come back.
i feel sorry and ashamed for the way those that went were treated. most didn't have a choice.
knowing what i know now, i'm not sure i would have gone.
it's a shame politicians have control over the lives of naive, innocent kids.
some wars are necessary but not all.
