Like I said. Say it don't spray it.
Mask covering the face reduce the amount of spit and the distance the spit travels. So masks do slow down the spread. Which is why this past year the number of flu cases are way down as compared to years when people didn't wear masks.
TimE what you are saying is that if masks are not 100% effective that we should not wear them? But that's not the case. Masks may not be 100% effective. They may be only 50% effective but that still saves lives. I went with a small number to prove my point.
If I wanted to be fully protected, I would wear a PAPR type respirator and have a portable shower to wash off in before going back into a clean house. I worked as an Asbestos Project Designer and supervised many different asbestos removal projects where we must wear full faced positive air respirators in the workspace and all workers had to disrobe in a dirty room, take a shower before entering a clean room before leaving the work site.
I also did respirator fit testing for the workers. Asbestos is one of the Hazardous Air Pollutants that is regulated by USEPA. Asbestos fiber particles can be very tiny. The mask we wore had to be capable of removing particles down to 0.3 um in size. Not all workers need to wear PAPR's. Only those removing the asbestos and inside the work room had to wear those masks and those masks got contaminated on the outside and had to be cleaned before the worker could remove the mask. Which is the purpose of the three chambered entrances where the entire work area is under negative air pressure, so any air leaks go into the work area not out of the work area.
But here is the bottom line. Wear some type of mask that keeps you from spitting on those around you while indoors.
