I retired in April and love the weekday fishing, was here this past Tuesday fishing up in West fork of Indian creek saw lots of bait and several fish busting the surface. Water temps were 56 on the main lake and 54 in the creek arm.
Dam end yesterday. 54F clear with 6 to 8 visibility. Windy no shad on top. Saw single striper jumps 1st hr of light off pts and in mouths of cuts left of Indian entrance. bait balls were 30 to 40 ft deep there. No striper jumps the rest of day spent in indian. bait balls 5 to 10 ft deep in back 25% of secondary creeks. never really graphed any stripers. Caveat I was mainly bass fishing. Used A rig quite a bit though.

Was there also and noted the same as you reported. Every cut I went in to had fish stacked top to bottom. Could not get them to hit .Dam end yesterday. 54F clear with 6 to 8 visibility. Thanks for the updates. Dad and I planned to go down early last week, but I got sick and couldn't go. Maybe next year lol
At least the weather was warm, fished mouth of Indian to about 3/4s of a way back. Decided I'd try pulling rigs instead of bait this trip. Well in about 1 hr I was minus about $100 worth of Picasso rigs and a very sick feeling in my stomach. One snag kept 3 rigs, an expensive l experience. I didn't upgrade my line weight to have any chance of getting my gear back.
I switched over to looking for birds in Indian and chucking top water. Jumps were not jumps just birds picking up the stripers/bass/walleyes left overs.
I was throwing my typical super spook for nada. Then after a quick bird flurry I saw what they were eating, baby shad about 1" long. I had been seeing these very tight balls of bait in my side scan.
Switched over to a 2 1/4" white splash it. Caught 1 keeper around 16lbs, 4 small mouth 12" to 16" and 2 largemouth about 1 1/2lbs.And I had a to me a huge striper swirl up at my lure about 10" from the boat it dwarfed the one in my live well.
For me it was more lessons learned.
I feel your pain on teh "A Rigs". Get mad every time I lose one. A couple trips ago I got A rig hung.10 mins no luck then got bait knocker hung too. 5 mins. broke twine on bait knocker. thought all was lost and about ready to give up and somehow A rig came loose and still had knocker on it.
Nice job catching them feeding and in jumps.
