I was a two pack a day smoker for 20 years. I quit three times before the last time held up. I used sheer determination to stop smoking the first time. I started going to the pool and swimming laps. At first it was just one lap down and back. Then two laps the next day. I was exhausted but still in college and young. I worked my way up to 72 laps which is a mile. When I got out of college for the summer I worked as a lifeguard and swam a mile every day. I rode a ten-speed bike to work which is 6 miles there and 6 miles back. We would take 20-mile trips when school was still in session right before summer break. I then rode one hundred miles from Evansville, IN north side to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. We rode back the next day. I quit riding ten speeds and got a motorized trail bike. So, I started riding a lot of trails with a heavy ass top heavy Honda 250 XL which was not any good for the street and not any good for the trails. But I lugged that heavy thing up and down strip pit mounts which were so steep that you would lose your breath just looking down from the top. Even after all that when I went back to school the next fall I was smoking again.
Back in 1993 I quit for good. I use the nicotine patch and that eased the pain of withdrawal. And after I stopped using the patch, I kept my hands busy. I would wash the truck and do **** like that to keep busy. After two weeks I was off nicotine and have been ever since.
Small world. I used to have a Honda 250 4 stroke XL, It was blue, and I agree that thing was a handful on or off road It was. 1976 I bought used in 1979. Traded it in 1982 for A Suzuki DR500 4 stroke Enduro bike and used it to race flat track, Enduros, and the Coal mine piles up in PA.I was a two pack a day smoker for 20 years. I quit for a year smoking in 1980. But fell back.
Quit for a year in 2015, but fell back. Gonna win this time. You are my mentor and I’ll follow your successful lead.

quitting smoking after 25 years was easy peasy, not eating every thing that fell prey to my paws?
well not so easy.
best of luck on your journey!
