I don't believe it is unexpected at all. Russia is NO ONE's friend. And allowing them to do what they do, and not be held accountable, has lead to the mess in Ukraine. I blame the last 2 decades of presidents, all the way back to Bush II, although Bush II did not have much he could do with Georgia.

Russia can't be trusted. Have you heard what Putin is saying about Ukraine? He is demonizing them and calling them child killers and child abductors. I was talking to my cousin, Chris, last night on the phone. He said something about back in the 13th century in the area that is now Ukraine there were people that would steal children from the Russians. I looked it up and found some links and articles to read. I had not heard anything about that before and dismissed Putin's claims.

I remember when Hitler demonized the Jewish people so that he could round them up in concentration camp without his own people uprising. That is what a dictator does to his perceived enemies.
