    Voting vs being voted for

Hmmmm…… if a person in jail for a felony can not vote, then how could a person in jail for a felony be voted for?

Maybe felons ought be allowed nation wide to vote because even though they committed crimes they are still Americans. Besides, if felons could vote they could vote out the district attorneys that sent them to jail.

And when ya think about it, when that felon went to a jury trial the jury “ voted” to put him in jail so the felon ought be able to vote because it was a vote that voted the felon in to jail and turn around is fair play.

Instead of putting felons in jail to sit around send them to work camps where everyday they must put in 8 hours doing work at minimum wage until such time as the work they did and the money they earned is enough to pay their victims court decided reparations. Example: drunk moron hits your car and costs you $20000 in medical cost and time off work. So drunk guy sentenced to $40000 worth of community service projects and stays at work camp till his 8 hour days have paid back the costs of law enforcement plus the costs of victim damages. BONUS: when the offender gets out the offender now has documented work history to get a job and stay out of trouble in the future. Rehabilitation right?

I'll stay away from the felon part of this but I always agreed with the idea of people working off their debt to society. I love seeing lawbreakers picking up trash or in the old days doing manual labor. I would like to see them cleaning up lakes, creeks and downtown cleanup here in Lexington. I'm all for the old way of people being punished for their bad deeds. Most people get "soft" and worry about their feelings and such but not me....do the crime and do the time.
