I'm looking forward to the float-n-fly this year, is the water temp getting close yet?
fnf is on, but had more luck tightlining the fly tipped with a minnow
I've been to boone three times in the last 2 weeks and couldn't get a bite on the bobber or a tight lined duck feather fly at all. My only bites have come on a jig or a jerkbait. The water is between 41 - 44 degrees and what fish I've caught have been cold and slow to say the least. I've not tryed any minnows, but I'm sure they couldn't hurt. I just hate sticking my hand in a bucket of bait when it's 20 degrees out! Has anyone else caught anything? I've not been to Holston, but I heard they had been catching some fish.
I've had more luck fishing banks on boone with large limestone boulders rather than the steep bluffs where the fnf is traditionally fished, I never go without the minnows either. good luck
Heard the temps are in the mid to upper 40s on holston.
