this is probablly a stupid question, but does this $20 sticker cover all the lakes on the list?If so,this wil end up saving me money. Now I wont have to pay the five bucks everytime I launch.(which is more than four times a year). You would think this would lose money instead of making it.Just got a boat last summer so this is all kind of new to me.Thanks for any replies.
I think that the Lake Permit will cover all the mentioned lakes in the PDF doc on the Indiana DNR web site. So you will save money if you fish a lot of those lakes. Now one permit will cover the entrance fee and the lauching fees for all these different lakes. So that would let you save money.
I think that before you had to purchase a entry pass and a launch permit for Patoka and then if you wanted to fish Brookville you have to buy a pass for entry and lauching seperately for Brookville.
Someone correct me if I am getting this wrong. I think this is the way it will work.

If you don't want to pay the gate fee at Patoka launch at Painter's Creek, Wall's, or Osbourne.
Eric H.
Well even if you launch at Walls or Osborn or any of the other launch ramps you are still responsible for paying to launch your boat. The CO's enforce this rule. If they see your truck and trailer parked in a lot without the proper stickers they will issue a ticket. You will have to appear in Orange County Court or pay a fine though the mail.
With the new permit Lake Permit it may cover all these costs. As long as you have it on your boat. humm that makes me wonder how they are going to know if you have a permit by looking at your vehicle in the parking lots. My understanding is that the Lake Permit is suppose to be put on the bow of the boat somewhere. I don't rmember reading about putting a sticker on your vehicle. I guess the CO's on the water will have to enforce this rule or else they will have to watch for you to come back to the ramp and check your boat then.
I guess that some of the kinks will have to beo worked out.

They had to have a drop box to enforce that rule under the old set-up. If they didn't have a place to put the money they couldn't ticket you.
You are right, under the new law the CO gets you on the lake if you don't have the sticker. They don't care if you launched from the ramp or over the side of the bank.

Moose,
That one is easy. We don't know about it yet, but I bet it happens.
They make you pay 3 bucks to park your rig.
Here read it:

The way I see it is they will no longer go to the ramps to check trailers because you put the sticker on the boat. But, I bet you will still see them at Cutright in the mornings of tournaments to sell one to anyone who does not have one. It looks like they might be on the water a little more in the next few years... I buy one every year anyway, for those that are "too busy" to fish, maybe if you buy one you will find more time to fish..... That's how I look at it....
I think that this will save time at gatehouses, when you enter one of the properties that charge an entrance fee. Because the gate attendants are no longer responsible for checking if you have a launch permit or not. It will be up to the law enforcement division to see whether or not you are in compliance with the rule. I know at some places the gate attendents would have to visually see whether or not you had a launch permit on your trailor. It should not be there problem if you do not have one on there that would be up to the conservation officers.
I believe the way it worked last year, is if you had an annual launch permit, then you would only have to pay the entrance to the park.
If you had no annual permits it would cost you 9 dollars for the day.
I worked at a state park and it amazed me the persons who would have no permits at all and i would see them twice in a weekend and this would cost them 18$ just for that weekend. If they had bought an annual lauch for 20 dollars, and a annual park pass they would have saved alot of money.
For the people that fish alot this is the same thing as the annual launch permit, so if you had that last year, you are not paying any more money than last year. So if you fish a lot this benefits you quite a deal.
The only people that this could effect negatively is people who would only go to a state park or resivor once or twice a year.
I think what will happen with this is, close down the gatehouses where they only charged a fee for launching a boat. The only one i am for sure of right now is the Hanna Creek Ramp at Brookville. No entrance fee only launch (lake permit) fee. I believe there will be no need for an attendant if every boat entering this ramp is supposed to have a permit. It is then up to the Conservation Officers to worry about the permits and not the management of the properties where this is needed.
The only thing of my concern is at this ramp it is kinda of secluded and it was nice to know that somebody was in the area where the vehicles were parked.

You have always been able to buy a annual lanch and State park permit. Now they are saying you MUST buy only a annual permit no more daily permits. Yes for the person who use these places a lot there is no change. As was said the person who only fish's these lake once or twice a year they get screwed buy having to buy an annual permit! But like in life there is always a choice, pay the price or find other lakes that at this time is not being over chaged to fish the lake. Look at it this way , if they upped the charge to oh say $200.00 a year to launch and up the fishing license to $500.00, per year! Man look at how much the state can make!! As far as I am concerned, they have over priced the ramp fees for a one or two time user to help pay the running fee's at these bobys of water. I will just go somewere else. The KY board has a thread about this as well and some say they just won't fish Indiana lakes then. Their goes out of Stae licemse sales, and the hotel, store, baitshop owners won't feel the loss as well. Guys we all know crying and mowning on post like this won't change a thing! It's like peeing on a forest fire all we are doing is releaving ourself's !!
Charlie> well I hates to tell you but those that only visit a state park lake a couple times a year are the minority. We all know that the "boys" don't care about the minority. With the exception of Summit lake, all the other lakes are packed with pleasure boaters that go there every weekend. They will be very happy with the new rule since it speed up there entry time even though all they're gonna do once they get on the water is sit. They will pay up in a heart beat. Even if you take this to the state house you will loose. Anymore if the big boys tell you to pull out your wallet, you only have two choices: pay up or shut up. Unless we start a REVOLUTION, yeah that right a REVOLUTION! :D :D
