    My Buddies Need Your Help

Well, my buddies did pretty well out on the water fishin' the other day. They caught 29 bass, 43 crappie, and 4 bluegill, uh, before THEY got caught.

Can anyone help me raise some bond money? If I can get them out of the slammer, they can show me how to catch that many fish this time of the year.

Anyone donating will be invited to the fish fry.

Sounds like the old adage "play with fire and you get burned" applies in this scenario.

I plan on contacting the reporter who wrote the article. He states it as a "watershed" lake. That could mean that there may be a legal public access to the lake, and these guys were in the wrong place on the bank.

I know there is a watershed lake in Vigo County that has a 6ft wide public access easement to put a boat in from the road, but all the shoreline is private property.

The county does not like you to know about the public access either, I had to call the Sheriff's Department downtown and get referred to about six people to get it out of them.

Sounds like these guys were on a very good pattern, and a few Conservation Officers are having a fish fry. I could bring tarter sauce and cole slaw.

    Poachers! Glad they were caught!

Hmmmm, none had licenses, over the legal limit, on private property. I say leave them in jail. These guys are nothing more than poachers and give the rest of us law abiding anglers a bad name and image. Let em rot for all could care, old friends or not.

Well they are not really my buddies but I ain't had a stringer like that since the last time I was a kid sneakin' into an old farm pond at night because the old farmer told me I couldn't fish it.

Anyway I just noticed they caught a lot of good fish and this time of year they are good eatin' and I was wanting to have some fish to eat.

Maybe the conservation officers took the marijuana and "disposed" of it properly, like they disposed of the fish. I bet they are smokin' pot and deep fryin crappie this weekend.

Can someone call District 5 and ask them if we bring rolling papers and hush puppies if we can be invited.

RE: My Buddies Need Your Help

Having grown up in Parke Co. I can tell you the majority of these watersheds are off limits......mainly because they are bordered by private property and the disrespect that has been shown for that property over time. This does nothing to change that opinion for the landowner. The interesting thing for me has always been the generosity of the people of Indiana to build these lakes for watershed conservation and then give them to the landowners control for access. Granted, I wouldn't want strangers, especially law breaking strangers such as these on my property either but it looks like there would be a happy medium between landowner and citizen access in there somewhere.
