    Brookville???

Has anyone been doing any good at brookville for anything. I just want to get out and do some fishing this weekend. I fish there for smallies mainly but only really fish it during the summer at night. I would like to fish it more for stripers since it is much closer than cumberland but have not heard to many people talk about the stripers in there that much. Please give me any info you can, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I heard there was a tournament last week. 19lbs won it. Heard big fish was 7lbs. Don't know about the other finishers. I believe it was on a post below. Stripers in the fall can be caught on mainlake points with a Super Spook. I would guess the same pattern would work in the spring too.
Where are you from? I have seen your post on the Ky board too.

Since it's over 90 feet deep in places, B'ville is difficult to fish, but like any striper lake, you find the shad wads and you probably just found the stripers. Save yourself some time and hit the lake at dawn or dusk. A silver jointed Rapala deep diving shad usually produces, as does almost any silver Hopkins. In the spring, stay up in the shallower end between Quakertown and the Fairfield Causway; they'll move deeper by July.

    RE: Brookville???

i am from northern ky. i mostly fish cumberland and dale hollow and the cumberland river. I fish for pretty much everything and i do post on the ky board mostly. i am going to lake norris next weekend for 4 days to try out the smallies and the stripers there. I have caught a few stripers from brookville but that was only when i was night fishing early in the year for bass and then started to target the stripers as they were feeding on the spawning shad. I have thought about pulling planer boards and down rods like i do at cumberland but it seems like the timber always is an issue. i have some serious cabin fever because i usually go to cumberland at least once a month all winter long and i have not been since thanksgiving. This whole paying off bills to buy a house thing#####!! Oh well guess you have to do it though. Thanks for the replies i will probably be out there this weekend most likely sunday. By the way does anyone catch the stripers casting bucktails jigs like at cumberland? just curious if anyone fishes for them like that up here. Thanks again.

I am from No Ky area also, Alexandria. I usually get up to Brookville 2-5 times a year. I go up in the fall and catch a lot of white bass and an occasional striper. My friend 2 years ago, caught one that weighed 22lbs on a super spook in the fall. Sometimes they will run in packs and you can have a ball fishing points with shad. I like to fish for LM and SM and crappie. Brookville Lake in my opinion, is the best lake closest to us. Summer nite time fishing can be very good.

    RE: Brookville???

Brookville can be very good for stripers.I've especially had good luck around August mostly at nite, but like you I got on them bass fishing and did'nt go for them specifically. We have had several in the 18-20 lb. class and on bass tackle that an be a blast. In the morn that time of year you can find them blowing up shad on top in the Wolf Cr. area. I'm from cincy and have fished B/V for about 20 years, mostly for L/M but the S/M have gotten big in the last 10 so that has peaked my interest more so.I see a lot of people trolling mosty planer boards main lake in the last few years.Talk to Tag at 52 Pick up as you go into town...he has the scoop most f the time.He guides out there but is willing to give you an idea most of the time....Good Luck
