How many permits do we need to fish Patoka Lake this year?

    Let's see:
    Fishing License $17
Boat Registration includes the Lake Enhancement Fees. CA $50
    Lauch Permit $20
    Park Entrance Permit $36

Did I miss anything? Oh yea. Got to license the truck and buy auto Insurance too.

    Gas is back up again.

Good thing I don't have to rent my boat every time out. LOL

    question

It is still early. Are the gate keepers there yet? If they are not there how am I supposed to get my sticker? If they aren't there & I can't get my sticker, do I get a fine? Just a few questions before I get out there with the kids this weekend.

    Thank you,

    Jason

    RE: question

The DNR Headquarters Building at Patoka Lake's Newton Stewart Entrace will see the launch permits too. They may even sell the Park entry permits as well.

The building is on your right as you enter the Newton Stewart part of Patoka Lake. Just look for all the DNR vehicles there.

Bandit> the gate keeper is not there yet but any park office will sell everything you needs minus the fishing license. Call whichever convienience for you to go and find out their hours of operation.

RE: How many permits do we need to fish Patoka Lake this year?

If I were the guy in charge of issuing permits and I looked out on a lake filled with boats costing anywhere from $8000 to $80,000, I'd think people like that had money and could afford my permits. Being bothered by permit expenses is kind of like owning a top-of-the-line boat and pulling it into a dealership for service, then complaining because the guy charged you so much for the work. You had the target painted across your chest when you stepped through his door.

Yeah, thats the spirit.......because we work hard for a living and have a toy and a hobby we should just roll over and take it in the ##### at every turn and LIKE IT! I can't wait until next year to pay more for a fishing license, tags, ramp fees, gas, and everything that comes with fishing. I just can't wait.

Seriously, I don't think the issue here is that people have a problem paying, the problem is the significant increases from year to year whether it be fishing license, ramp fees, fuel costs and general day to day living. Show me tangible results of the increased costs? You can't. Why? Because the State is robbing Peter (you and me) to pay Paul...its that simple.

RE: How many permits do we need to fish Patoka Lake this year?

I have never used Jackson ramp before. I guess it's time I found out where it's at and how to get to it. I come from the south and up through Birdeye to get to Patoka. Is there a road off the 145 HWY that leads to the Jackson ramp or do I need to go by the Lick Fork Area and then to the East to get to Jackson.

I will have to check my maps to see how to get there. Thanks for the tip.

I think some people thought I was complaining. I thought I was just asking a question on what to expect and what I need. I need to get all these things taken care of before I can get the boat out and I wanted to make sure I had not forgotten anything.

They keep changing all the stuff and it's hard to keep up.

    Regards,

    Moose1am

To get to Jackson Ramp on Patoka Lake. If you are heading north on SR 145 continue about a mile and a half past Painter Creek ramp. You will see an IUPUI Agriculture Site sign to the left. Take that road to the left and you will come to two different intersections during the 5 mile drive. Take lefts at both. The IUPUI Ag. signs will point the way. I believe you will see a State Ramp sign as well. I dont know the road name. I have fished Patoka regularly since impoundment and never paid attention to that road name. Jackson is usually a seldom used ramp because of its isolation. Be aware that it also has its down falls. Jackson is notorious for breakins and thefts.
