What park pass are you talking about?
Charlie
To enter the Newton Stewart Area of Patoka Lake you have to buy a permit. If you camp at the main camp ground you have to pay to camp also. Then you have to buy a launch permit and stick it on your boat. If the CO sees you on the lake without that permit on your boat (port side) you can get fined.
I have never lauched at the Main North Ramp (Newton Stewart), South Ramp, Lick Fork South and the one by the Marina, Walls and the ramp in the Little River Area. Not familar with the other ramps but thanks for that advise. I'll give them a try next time.

When I called DNR they told me the only permit I needed was for my boat. Any other fees could be paid at the gate houses on the ramps or at the parks.
I usually put in at Lick and there is no gate there.

That is right Charlie. As long as you have the launch sticker on your boat and lauch from a ramp out side the main park then you should be good to go. We all learned something today.
I Stated out launching at the Southern Lick Fork Ramp back in 1978 when the lake first opened. I used that ramp for many years. Then I found the Newton Stewart ramp as I started tent and rv camping at Patoka. So that is why I was asking about the Park Entrance fees. I am just trying to get this all straight before I get started preparing to go fishing.
One of the guys I fish with likes to lauch out of Newton Stewart ramp and I need the permits if I am going to follow him and fish with him in my own boat.
Other times when I am by myself I can lauch out of the other ramps.
But everyone needs to register the boat every year and to have the launch ramp sticker on the boat if they fish patoka or some of the other reservior in IN.

Moose1am
That will save us $36 bucks. Ever bit helps. If I went to Patoka more than once or twice a year I would just go ahead and buy the yearly park entry fee. During the Fall of the year I like to fish the main lake areas and launch out of Newton Stewart Lauch ramp or the North ramp as some call it.
I use Walls during the spring as that area has warmer water in the spring.

Painters Creek is mid-lake and would make more sense to launch there instead of Newton Stewart!

Painters Creek is a good ramp. I remember fishing with you at the Purdue Bass Fishing Tournament a few years ago. And it's a straight shot out of that launch ramp with no speed limits.
What's the Jackson Ramp Like? That's really mid lake. I may fish out of Jackson later this summer and fall.

you forgot the price of fishing line bait and lures you will loose also speeding tickets
I would need to get the calculator out if I start adding up all the other cost of fishing. LOL But you are right. Someone was trying to figure out how much per ounce our fish cost us. Take everthing you spent on getting ready to go fishing and compare that to how many ouces of fillets you bring home. It's cheaper to buy farm raised catfish if you are wanting food on the table.
But the sight of the lake at Sunrise or sunset is PRICELESS.

Bravo Moose1am. The true meaning of fishing is to have fun!!! Sure we all see the fishing shows on the TV but it's all about spending time on the water. If we had to pay to keep up a body of water individually what would it cost? I'm happy to pay $200 per year to fish anywhere in Hoosier Land. Let someone else deal with the headaches of keeping it stocked. (they could do better, we all know that) Let's stay on them to make sure our kids and grandkids have good fishing.
