    Transducer Epoxy

I was getting ready to install my new Lowrance 334C this weekend and was going to do a "thru hull" mount but they did not provide epoxy with the box. Instructions say only use "lowrance" expoxy for this. Has anyone had luck with any from our local home center stores? I really wanted to get this installed this weekend and did not want to order anything...

    Suggestions?

    RE: Transducer Epoxy

Also if your instructions did'nt tell you...you should have it as level as possible. The best way I've found to do this is get some modeling clay at Michaels and build a shallow resevoir slightly larger than the trans. then pour in your 2-part..also try to mix it slowly not to make too many bubbles for they will interfere with your signal. The best epoxy I have found has been the Devcon 30 min. It will or should set depending upon temp in 15-18 min.to the point where you wont have to worry about the trans moving. Not full cure for 24 hrs. Also make sure your surface is VERY clean and you may even want to rough it up a bit.........Hope this helps

    RE: Transducer Epoxy

any good two part will work make sure you slide it in from one side turning back and forth as you do . This helps prevent air bubbles position it where it will sit flat otherwise your depth will be off. I like to leave enough room if I can to get to it again with a razor blade knife if I need to change units or transducer. don't use the super quick acting two part sets up tooo fast. Hope this helps you . oh if on an aluminum boat make sure its not above a rib and on a glass boat shoot thru just one layer of glass like back by the bilge pump...
