    RACCOON LAKE

WAS THERE YEST. AND TRIED TO FISH IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. I HAVE A SMALL TOURNEY THERE THIS SUNDAY. MANAGED 3 SMALL BASS. ALOT OF SHAD PODS AROUND BUT NOTHING BUSTING. DID I MENTION ALOTTTTT OF WATER. I WAS FISHING BOAT DOCKS THAT WAS ABOUT A 1-2 UNDERWATER. PEOPLE HAD ROPES TIED TO A FEW OF THEM. I AM ASSUMING THE CORP WILL DROP THE BOTTOM OUT OF IT THIS WEEK. THERE WERE PICNIC TABLES IN THE WATER IN SOME PLACES. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO FISH THIS LAKE. IS IT A CRANKBAIT LAKE, JIG ETC.??? I KNOW PEOPLE HAVE HONEY HOLES ETC. AND NOT ASKIN FOR THEM JUST NEED ALITTLE MORE INFO. WATER TEMP WAS 58 BUT FAIRLY CLEAN THOUGH. THANX TO ALL AND GOOD LUCK.

Wow what a change? Early in the spring my buddy and I was going to put together a money tourn. but the water was so low that you can't put a boat in so we scrapped the idea. Those flooded pinic tables would be worth poking around at. I am not an "expert" but take it or leave it: springcraw yellow bandit.

    RE: RACCOON LAKE

I have had a lot of luck fishing some of the larger points, with the water up look for locations near the houses with the rip rap walls and work a pig and jig (blu/blk) or throw a tight wobble crank over the clay flats and rip it across the bottom. The east slow end north of the dam has produced well for me this year. Throw right up into the junk with soft plastic texas rigged, peg the weight close. Last but not lease carolina rigs work well on some of the gradual ramps, some of which used to be roads and go far out into the lake.

    Hope this helps

This lake is a flood control lake, so that is how it always is. It will never be a great lake for fishin.

The level changes so much, i don't think any species gets a good spawn except white bass.

We are launching out of Walker at 6:30. If you see an old grey 201 Stratos, stop and flag me down. If I'm on anything I will let you know, if not maybe you can help me out.
