I recently moved to Muncie and I am looking for tournaments in the area, weekly or monthly. Are there any at Summit or Prairie Creek?
Thanks
Hi neighbor, welcome to the neighborhood. Yes there are weekly tournaments at both Summit and Prairie Creek. Summit is Wed. nite from 5-9pm, register at the bait shop by 4:30. Sunday from 3-9pm, be at bait shop by 2:30. Prairie Creek is every Tues. from 5-9pm. If I were you I wouldn't waste my time on Prairie Creek because they're getting like 5-6 boats and that place is a dead sea, literally, plus you have to pay a ramp fee of $5 each launch.
How much is the entry fees for the Summit and Praire Creek tournaments?
Thanks
Muncie water level?
Has the water level returned to normal I was there 2 Mo. ago and the level was so low you couldn't get to the dock "IF" you could even put you boat on the water.
I paid the $5.00 ramp fee but didn't even put the boat in. I do like fishing there but,,,, they have too much rip-rap by the ramp area. (you can't beach your boat to pick up or drop off people) And the docks have old tires on posts that leave black marks all along you'r boat if the wave action is heavy.
My best fishing has always been back in the coves under the brige, and the shoreline of the creek channel that feeds the main lake, work that area back to the big rocky island. You can also find a good size underwater hump just before you get to the island.
I would like to suggest that you look at fishing with the Muncie Bass Anglers, if you are looking to do club tournaments. The website is munciebassanglers.net
I typically try not to put down a club but I would stay away from Muncie Bass Anglers. I fished an open tournament with them this year and supposedly, we were having a meeting at 7am before takeoff, well they blasted off before 6:45. No meeting, nothing. After the weigh-in, when I confronted what I believe to be the director, I was given some stupid answer as to why they left early and a dumber reason as to why they couldn't let everyone know. Sounded to me like they didn't want anyone taking their money.
Obviously, I will never fish another tournament with them again and I hope that if you do join their club, you show respect to the non-members who fish the opens
7 bucks for both Summit and the carp pit.
Prarie Creek a "dead sea"?
Sure it might not be a factory like Geist or Morse, but it is far from being "dead".
I have been on that lake 4 times in my life. All of them in June, July or August and caught a limit of decent bass everytime. If I lived closer I would fish those tournaments they have and concentrate on the two cuts under the bridges until about a half hour before dark. Then I would move to the shallow grassy end and throw buzzbaits until dark, got two over 5 that way.
Ummm...of those four times? when was the fourth one? I know every inch of that place and can't barely catch a bass anymore, even in May, the easiest time of the year. I can tell/show you where all the humps, road bed, brush piles, drop offs, flats. I know that place used to be good but the last 2-3 years is terrible. I saw the biggest smallmouth I've personally seen in my life floating, barely alive last year...I almost cried.
