I don't want to bring up any older posts about trash being left around, and on, the banks of Indiana waterways.
"BUT" I feel I must express great concren about all the "spent" 10 cent rockets, motar shell casings, roman candle tubes, and just the basic 4th of July "crap" floating in the lakes that I've fished. I started seeing junk in the water, starting around the last two weeks of June and now, (I still see tons) a week after the 4th. of July. Not only the stuff is in the water,,,,, next time you go out, look on the tops of the shore stations, bottle rockets and firecrackers have burn small holes in the fabric, and boats still have spent bottle rockets laying inside the craft.
Kids will always play with firecrackers but why do people allow children (and drunk dads) to shoot the stuff "over" the lakes and "around" boats and landings. (Elkhart Indiana had a pontoon boat on the St Joe catch on fire because of fireworks, it is still in the water spilling oil and gasoline in the river)
Indiana has a problem with the Cottenwood trees producing tons of cotten to stick your line and fowl up your baitcasters. Now you have to cast around floating red sticks, cardboard and firecracker paper all along the shoreline.
My questions is,,,, can the local city's stop waterside fireworks,,, or can DNR get involived because all the "Junk" and "Stuff" falls back into our lakes and rivers?
Maybe the state can charge a "clean up cost" to each firework stand that pops up along the roadside, that way the person buying firecrackers has helped pay for some of the cost to clean up their mess, (Ya hear that Gov. Danels more money for the state) any thoughts?
