Be careful about trolling in Wisconsin . Many of the lakes I have been on in Wisconsin, trolling is prohibited . I think the lakes must be of a "flowage " type to legally troll . Laws change through time so you may want to go online to double check that . As far as going there to fish, I and the wife have been going up there for a few years and we do have a good time. She does like to fish though . The first year we hired a guide on the first day of the week , and the rest of the week we did ok . We stayed in Minocqua where there are many lakes close to town . The town has plenty of "touristy" shops and depending on where you stay are within walking distance of the hotels. Don't worry, you don't have to drive far at all to get into the "Boonies" up there !!
