Looking for a good Rod Holder System

Do any of you guys or gals have a good rod holding system. I need to put about 40 rods into a rod holding system.

I got a 6 rod holder wall mount from ####'s Sporting goods and mounted it on the wall today in my spare bedroom. This is the Fishing Rod Wall Rack made by Northeast Outfitters. It's a nice little rack but I found that a few of my rods were falling out of the top slot and would not stay in place. I have one of those round rod holders from BPS but that thing drives me nuts. There is only one post in the middle of two circular piece of wood. And the top Circle of wood which holds the top of the rods in small rubber holders twists around and it not staying in one place.

I noticed that BPS sells another rod holder that's similar but it's got three vertical sticks that hold the two round pieces of wood in place. This one hold the top wood in place and won't allow it to rotate around so much. Well that's what it looks like it would do just from looking at it in the catalog pictures

I need to get my rod and reels better organized and I am tired of them sitting in there leaning against a corner of the room

Do you guys have this latter type rod holder and if so how do you like it?

RE: Looking for a good Rod Holder System

    Moose ,
I have the Bass Pro oak round model and havent had any problems with it , I keep all my tackle in the garage and it hold about 12 rods with reels . The spinning rigs have to sit with the reel facing in or the rod will fall off but it spins OK and keeps my rods and reels handy . You said you had some older glass and metal rods that were your dads ? You might want to get a long plastic storage box and put them up . For storing a bunch of rods in the house I would get 4 or 5 Berkley wall-mount Vertical holders , Ive had those and they work good and are cheap . Anyway , I watched a old Bill Dance VHS tape I had over the week-end - same old Bill pulling in 8 pounders at a private lake in FL but he had some good pointers . To keep rods from getting all tangled in a bass boat rod locker he said to hook the lure on to the reel and wrap the line around the rod eyes twice which he did and showed it was easy getting a bunch of rods in and out of the locker . I have had problems with that myself so it was helpful for me . BTW , Turtle Creek opens for fishing Friday on the north end , I might get up there Sat. or Sun. but it will probably rain .

RE: Looking for a good Rod Holder System

Thanks for the help, tips and information. The idea of putting the old rods in a long tube sounds interesting. I can made rod holders like that out of PVC pipe and just put end caps on some 4" ID Pipe. I normally use the PVC Pipe to make crappie condos but I can get some thin walled pipe for the rod storage holder. Thanks that's a great idea. I don't use any of those old glass rods anyway. I should sell them but they have some sentimental meaning to me still. I'll probably end up giving them to some kids that don't have any rods to fish with. They are still good rods as they were taken care of. The guides are all in good shape and the guide wraps are all still in tack. I could clean the cork handles on some.

I have one wall rack now that I used to store my deep sea and other heavy duty rods and reels on the wall in the vertical position. The extra bedroom is looking much more organized now. I call it my fishing room these days. Some of the stuff that I can mount on the walls would have sent my X wife up the wall. LOL But now I can do what I want to my house and that's a good thing. Women just don't seem to like big pictures of wildlife scenes hanging on the living room wall. LOL

My round rod holder that I got from BPS works OK. It's just that I am too picky and I hate seeing the rod tips all out of place when the thing rotates.. LOL I am about ready to get some custom turned spindles to attach to this thing to keep it from rotating around. ;)
