HAS ANYONE CHANGED THE BRAKES ON A NEWER MODEL RANGER BOAT TRAILER? ,OR IS IT SOMETHING A DEALER WOULD NEED TO DO?...
My 1994 trailer has disc brakes. They are just like most cars. pull off old pads and put on new pads. If you've never done a car, and aren't very inclined to tie up a saturday doing this then take it in to about any garage and they can do it. Call Ranger Parts Dept and ask about the replacement parts. See if there are an equivalent NAPA part number or the like. Are the pads worn thin, or what? mine are still in really good shape, but I don';t use it every weekend any more.
A buddy of mine and myself replaced his and come to find out on most Stratos boat trailers the pads are special size. If you venture do your research first before taking it apart. His brake pads were pricey.
Best of luck
As someone said, do your research first and be prepared with all the parts you'll need before you dig in. Try surfing to Champion Trailers on the web, there's a lot of good info on their site. They also have very helpful folks working for them if you need to call, and their parts prices are reasonable.
Doublee
I have a ranger manual that gives two toll free numbers to call and ask for the service departmet if you want them.
