Hey guys, I'm looking at a 16' boat that is rated for a 40 horse engine, this one has a 60 horse on it. I was wondering what dangers/problems could be associated with it having a larger engine than what it's rated for. Thanks, Ted

if someone got hurt in a boating accident involving your boat charges might be filed against you for having an overpowered boat
the only real draw back would be getting insurance sometimes the insurance companies want insure a boat that is over the advertised max horsepower.
The other issue is the amount of weight.
