help me out with 150 Mariner

I tryed out my startos tonight that has a 96 150 mariner. It starts fine,,but smokes like crazy and wont put the rpm`s up and boggs down. I can put in N and rev it up till it clears then throw it in gear and it`ll put up then all of a sudden it`ll take off and run for miles,,runs great and smooth till ya drop off a plane and starts that smoking stuff again...any Ideas?

pull the carb covers off and see if you have a carb running over,trim it up just a little and see if gas runs out the front of the carb.I had a 200 that done the same thing and that is what it was,a needle seat had vibrated loose and was letting a little extra gas through.Also check all hose connections for sign of leaks an air leak in a line can cause problems too.

Sounds like carbs ( sticky float, bad needle) also might check the reeds when you pull the carbs
