javelin boats

looking for comments on javelin boats.are they the same as stratos? my dad is looking at a 2002 javelin and i know nothing about javelin boats. i think they stopped mfg in 2002.thanks for any information

The Javelin boat line was manufactured buy OMC they owned Stratos also. Both boats were made at the same plant. When OMC went bankrupt a company called genmar bought the boat line. Not long after genmar bought Javelin/Stratos they also bought out Champion boats. They move the manufacturing of Champion boats to the same biulding as Stratos and phased out the Javelin line of boats.That is just how big business works sometimes. That is basically why Javelin boats are no longer biult. Were they a good boat...Yes. Basically a Javelin was a stripped down version of a Stratos. The quality and craftsmanship was just as good as the Stratos line but the boat was packaged for a lighter budget. Alot of things that were standard on a Stratos was an option on a Javelin. Pump out/auto bilige/adjustable timming areators/on board battery charger/hydraulic steering. Things such as that. The boats were a good quality product just not loaded up with the bells and whistles as standard equipment. If the boat and motor are in good shape I would not be afraid to buy it. I have been running a Javelin Renegade 19 for the last 5 yaers and I like my boat.
