    RE: TRAILER QUESTION

    standard 50W Motor Oil
Lubricant is added through the threaded hole in the hub

My manual has directions for servicing grease type and oil filled
"Cool Hubs" you might want to check your manual also if you havent.
You could also e-mail or call Ranger for info.

    RE: TRAILER QUESTION

I called Ranger years ago and they recommended Valvoline Racing 50W. Works for me.

    RE: TRAILER QUESTION

I don't think a 1999 Ranger Trailer has brake fluid....but I have been wrong before. It does however have fluid for the cool hubs.

    RE: TRAILER QUESTION

Brake fluid goes into the brakes.

If you have the cool hub wheel bearings they use 90w gear oil. If your trailer is a 99 model and has cool hubs that was either the first year Ranger started using the cool hub system or somebody added a aftermarket cool hub. The orignal question was what do I add to the brakes and somehow it got off onto cool hubs...two totally different systems.

Brake fluid in the brake system.

    RE: TRAILER QUESTION

I don't disagree R19 that cool hubs and brake fluid are too different things. Answer this for me....does a 1999 Ranger Trailer use brake fluid at all?

Also, my last conversation with Ranger they did not approve or disapprove of adding 90W gear oil. They did recommend the Valvoline 50W Racing. I have tested the 90W gear oil in my hubs with good performance.

In order for me to answer your question...does a 1999 Ranger Trailer use brake fluid at all? I will need some more info. Does the trailer in question have brake pads brake lines and a master cylinder?

    RE: TRAILER QUESTION

I've always used a good DOT 3 or better approved brake fluid in my Ranger trailer brakes. Look up UFP website and give them a call. They make the parts.

    R19

I have a 97 RangerTrail with original cool hubs. I don't know what year they started using them but I do know that 99 is not the first year. ;-)
