    RE: .410 shotguns

I can tell you it is not a Mossberg. I have tried 2 this past year and each shot goes somewhere different than the last. I love my 12 gauge Mossberg, but the .410 is a whole other ballgame. Bad thing is, you don't have a lot of other choices. Maybe I had 2 bad guns, but I doubt it. Hope this helps a bit. (I was going to use one last year for hunting, but opted for the 12 ga. after my findings. I will hunt this year if I can afford it.) By the way, where in Indiana do you hunt? Just curious.

I don't think it is legal to hunt deer witha 410 using slugs.I think a 20 gauge is the smallest you can use

    RE: .410 shotguns

why would u want to use a .410?

If I lived in a no rifle state, I would be shooting my muzzleloader.

because muzzleloaders are messy, and i still believe they are unreliable. i have seen too many missfires even from the newer guns. Besides, I can shoot 10 to your 1 if need be. Last year my first shot caught a branch...with your muzzleloader it would be all over, with a shotgun, it just begins.

if u have to shoot 10 times, stay home. 1 shot is all you need. Muzzleloaders are as reliable as the person loading, and taking care of them.

    In your opinion yes,

and the 10 times thing was an exageration. 1 shot IS all you need barring nothing goes wrong. But if it does, it is nice to know I have another shot within seconds. Sorry, I will just never believe they are as reliable as a shotgun. This is just an opinion.

    RE: In your opinion yes,

to clarify, I have no problem with a shotgun, my comment was directed toward a .410 for slug hunting. That's what I don't understand using. Hope u kill a big one. GL.

    RE: In your opinion yes,

I would like to know what you are basing the comment about a muzzle loader not being reliable. I have hunted with one for 15 yrs and have used every kind from the old ball and cap to the new in-line. First a muzzle loader ,thanks to the new bullets and powders available today, can be very accurate out to and beyond 150 yards. I would hate to have the buck of a life time standing at "100" yards and all I have in my hands is a 410. with a slug.I Think a pocket full of rocks would be just as good for that............Give the old smoke pole a chance if you have never tried one. YOU will be surprised have they have continued to improve over the last few years...
