Try spooks and pop-r's around the peagravel and slate rock areas, also fish the banks and slips in big bear right by the ramp. This spot gives bass a good amount of shade as well as food in a close proximity. I wouldn't pass up the creek channel either. A shallow swimmer may be the lure of dawn.
    Good Luck

Buy a Hot Spots map and fish the summer spots it suggests in Smith Bay, Big Bear, and Pisgah Bay. There near Camp Currie holds some good fish regularly because they sink A LOT of brush in the area for the campers to fish. There's some great white bass action to be had in the same areas as well. The flat at the mouth of Smith is a good bet a lot of times in the morning. As the sun gets higher, there's a nice drop by the green channel marker at the mouth of Smith as well.

And if you are able, the canal is always a sure-fire place to find fish! Most times it's a matter of how the current is running through it and where the baitfish are in it. A Fluke in morning or evening is awesome action this time of year! :)

    RE: Kentucky Lake

Thanks for the info guys. I have heard that there is a good night time smallmouth bite going on right now using dark colored spinnerbaits. Anything else working particularly well? Does anyone know the kind of presentation the bronzebacks are taking on the spinners? Such as letting it sink to the bottom and then slow rolling it back to the boat or burning it just under the surface? Obviously I can try different ways and see what works, just wondering if anyone has had any luck with the smallies, especially at night. I'm wanting to get into some during my trip down there and will probably target them after dark. Thanks again.
