The rumor I have been hearing about for the last 6 months is that citgo is on the way out and the new head sponsor is going to be Toyota. When this happens remember you heard it first from MR.Bigrod
It would be cool if they would make one bass fishing circuit. Make it like the other major sports. Have two divisions East-West or something like that. Make it a season with a playoff(classic). I'm saying this because I like BASS, but I own a Ranger boat. By the way 6 of the 11 events that Bass has had, has been won by a Ranger boat sponsered angler. What do you guys think,
OK guys, you know the rules on political posts. Been many deleted recently. Now we can move them to the discussion/discussion board, but just the same, stay away from politics or you will be in violation of board policy.
Great discussion to have over on the discussion/discussion board though.
Tight lines and God Bless
Danny
what politics? This is a fishin discussion. Was it the sponser stuff or the RANGER BOAT stuff??
IMHO, I have a hard time watching a BASS event on television and have not paid any membership fees in some time because of the CITGO sponsorship. CITGO is controlled by the Venesualan government which is second only to Cuba in this hemisphere in their anti-Americanism. Their president, Hugo Chavez, is a socialist thug and I refuse to help line his pockets with American Dollars, even if its in an indirect manner. I wish that BASS would wake up and smell the coffee and look for another sponsor. If they leave, I say good ridance.
Keep on Chuckin.
P.S. I hope that this dosnt get deleted for its political content.

Mr. Stonewall you took the words right out of my mouth. Good ridance is right and don't let the door hit you in your Arse Chavez.
There's an article about FLW and BASS and where there are with the oil companies on bassfan.com . Sounds like FLW might land BP and CITGO is slowly leaving the US which would limit there exposure for BASS.
NO not exactly.. INstead of supplying their own stations they are only going to sell wholesale. In other words they will stop supplying their stations and the stations will have to buy from other wholesalers... Citgo is going to sell to the wholesalers so the supply is not changing just the suppliers.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-13-06 AT 12:15PM (EST)[p]I must not be reading it the same as you....my understanding was they would only supply what was produced in U.S Refinerys...That doesnt mean a total withdrawal however it will mean a decrease in fuel supply. As far as different suppliers....who are you referring to?
Article I read indicated that Citgo was not going to be a supplier to its own stations any more. It is simply going to sell the gas it is producing and selling to the stations now to other suppliers.. While it will cause a momentary problem the supply is not changing at all. Same amount of gasoline being produced but the stations will buy it from a different supplier who will get PART of their supply from Citgo US.
No real change other than who is driving the truck to a point.
OR the name on the truck.
Jim
Must explain why all the Citgo stations around Louisville and Southern Indiana have changed to Marathon in the last 2 months
