National radio mentions Barkley cheaters

On the noon edition of the Paul Harvey radio broadcast today, Thursday 6/29, Paul Harvey made mention of the Barkley cheaters including their names. I was glad to hear mention of it by him; hopefully, they will be made an example of and receive a stiff penalty. Needless to say, their tournament fishing days should be no more and perhaps it will deter others who may be tempted to cheat to think otherwise. If you would like to hear the Paul Harvey radio broadcast, go to www.paulharvey.com and select the Thursday, noon edition.

To make matters worse I hear that these guys eat all the largemouth and smallmouth bass that they catch.

All I can say is get a rope!

What does everyone think would be an appropriate penalty or sentence for these guys? Jail time? How much? Fine? How much? Felony conviction? Loss of boat? Loss of fishing license? Community service? (Assume for argument purposes that neither has any criminal record.) I would suggest a misdemeanor conviction with a one year probated jail sentence and loss of hunting/fishing license for two years. Assuming no prior record.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-01-06 AT 10:56AM (EST)[p]Let get some facts right They were video taped putting fish in thier livewell by KDFW. Guilty no way out. They brought four of the five fish to the scales at the Relay for life tournament. Guilty They have never passed a polygraph test 1 no decision and 1 failed, but never passed one. We have been saying they have been cheating for 3 yeasrs along with some other very well known fishermen and women on KY and Barkley. We actually saw them not catch a fish all day in one tournament and weigh in 18 lbs. the only time we could not see them was when they went in a slip at KY Dam Marina for 10 min. Must have really been bitten!!!!!!!!!! Guilty in my eyes. They should get the maxium the law will allow 50 years or what ever. no license ever. Thank You Brian Crawford

Lets All Calm Down.. OK

1. Lets allow the legal system to run its course.
2. I do not believe they will EVER fish a tournament again, lets face it everyone KNOWS who they are.
3. Violence is NOT an option. I know some of you lost to these guys and lost boats and money and more. Still violence never solves a problem like this.
4. I am all for reasonable discussion... HOWEVER, any more suggestions of violence and I will lock this thread and delete any further additions.
5. If you want to get mad, go to a gun range and shoot some sporting clays, skeet or trap and pretend you are shooting something else.
6. The nice thing about discussion boards like this is that EVERYONE now knows they cheat. You fishing fanatics out there think about that. THEY CAN NEVER FISH AGAIN And catch a big fish and not be called a LIAR. NO FISHING TOURNAMENTS EVER AGAIN.. Not gonna happen.
Worse yet none of their friends will speak to them especially fishing friends.. and my fishing friends are my best friends.. so figure these guys will suffer, whether found guilty or not.

For the sake of discussion.....

I actually believe these guys will be fishing tournaments again, in as little as the time it takes them to get fishing licenses back.

Why do I say this?

Within a couple of years, most won't remember what they look like. Most open tournaments don't require ID. Therefore, they simply sign up under an assumed name.

I say they can only be punished within the limits of the law. But I've lost so much money in tournaments, that everyone I know that fishes would have to be punished for me to get even with those that have taken my money!!! LMAO

Canny the guys who have fished against them will remember them forever. They will have to fish OUT OF STATE and out of region to be able to fish again. NO BIG tournament will take them and again the Lie Detector will most likely trip them up.
I just dont believe they will be able to do this any time real soon. 5 years down the road maybe, but fishermen have VERY LONG MEMORIES.. I still remember my first time fishing. I still remember my first fish, and I sure as hell would remember the 2 guys who stole a boat from me in a tournament.

While some of you are ready to lynch these men for allegedly cheating and so much hatred for these two, let me ask you a question, have you ever done wrong. I agree that cheating is wrong ,whether it is at work, on your spouse,on taxes,at cards,or any type.I pray for these men and their families and friends.I pray that they will find true repentance and that they will find salvation.Let the courts decide their punishment if guilty and have a heart.

Coombaya, me lord, Coombaya. I'm sick and tired of being politically correct. If I do something stupid or wrong I'll pay for it. Cheating, stealing and lieing is wrong, PERIOD.

You are right..wrong is wrong..right is right. There is no grey line. I went to the dump here one day and there was a lady sitting in the car and her son (about 14) or so was standing at the entrance to the dump, with a huge hand held sign that read, "I am sorry if I defaced your property, please forgive me as it will never happen again". After talking to the mom, the young boy got caught spray painting some property and part of his COMMUNITY SERVICE was to stand there for 4 Sats in a row. I can bet you couldnt pay that young man to spray paint anything now.

Maybe after these 2 yahoos are found guilty by a court of law, which I am sure they will be, they should be made to stand at some weigh-ins with a sign around their necks.

Just my 2 cents worth

Larry Adwell

Larry, I have a heart, a heart that realizes that long ago these men would have been introduced to a 20 ft leather whip for a couple hours. But that no longer happens, I think you are a little nieve about the subject, what they did comes 2nd to someone cheating on their wife with another "wife", IMO. Just ask the guys who fished the Relay for Life.
