Updated board program

Well, I looked around at software and it seemed that updating the current software was the quickest way to get things working again. It has some new features and they tell me it works better. He did recomend that I upgrade again to thier php sql database version a copy of which I have, but man I have to take a break. I've got about 30 hours in this since Sunday.

Hope it works in the meantime and if it doesn't, will...that's fishin.

Hey Peter,

So far, most of the board is great.

The only thing I would ask is that when you click on the "view all" it no longer shows you the posts in the order that they were posted. Not a big deal, and in some ways it is a little easier to follow because it seems that using the "view all" now has the responses under the message the person responded to. That sounds confusing, so let me try to explain.

Peter posted first (from here out is just an example)
redneck posted second to peter
geo posted third to redneck
I post fourth to Peter
Slop then posts fifth to me
Dave Stewart then posts sixth to Slop
Redneck then posts to Peter
Then Grumpy posts to Dave.

That then would be the order the posts were displayed on the old board when you click "view all", now it seems it doesn't do it that way, but it says which message it replies to, so this helps understanding the context of a reply, plus even though I have to double check, it seems that the posts are shown in the order they are replied to.

Now as for the guy who was talking about making topics appear read. If you read the first post, you see links to the replies. If you click on these links while looking at the first post, and then go back to the main page, it does not appear you read those other posts. That's the way the other board worked, and I think that is what the guy is referring to. My suggestion is click each topic, and hitting esc. to stop your browser. Once you have clicked on them all, then click on view all, and read them all at once. Then they all show as read when you go back to the main page.

Sounds like you know what to look for and can determine the most logical wan to display the posts. There are also a coplle other settings I would like you to look at.

I turned chronological order on. Did that make any difference?

This seems to be working and looks good to me. Since its an upgrade, I hope it works without crashing. Peter, take a break from all the techno stuff and enjoy. Actually, I wanted to see how the posting goes and so far it fine.

Hey.....

Is there any way to get sub messages to "hilight" after reading them, if you start from within an imbedded message.....

Example.

Message1
----Message2
---------Message3.

If I click on Message2, and then navigate to Message3, and then exit the board, it shows that I read Message2, but NOT Message3.

Maybe I'm smoking crack, but I have not figured this one out yet.

do you mean the new message icon goes away or the text does not change to the color of a read messagae.
