    Lexington Boat Show

As some of you might know I have some limited involvement with Lexington's Boat Show at Heritage Hall. Plans and arrangements are made several months in advance for this show. At this time I'm curious about some thoughts and opinions regarding this show and how it might be made better.

Have you attended this show in the last 3 years?
What were some of your likes and dislikes?
What would you like see more of? Less of?
What elements would more likely draw you to attend this show in 2007?
Did you attend the 2006 show because KVD, Rick Clunn and Dave Stewart were giving seminars?

Thanks in advance for all thoughts and opinions.

    RE: Lexington Boat Show

I attended the last show, came to look at bassboats and to see the seminars. As for the seminars it was great to see those heavey weights at the same time but they had to do their shows like their shoes were on fire. It looked like they weren't given much time. You could tell they were hurrying. If we are lucky enough to get them back please give them more time to speak.:D

I was there last year and had the same experience with watching the seminars. They were all so limited on time that they barely got anything done. Rick Clunn and Dave Stewart seemed to get more to fit into 30 minutes but to do so they had to talk as fast as they could.

I came from Louisville just to see those guys and I was a little disappointed that they weren't given more time.

More fishing tackle. More fishing tackle...more fishing tackle. If I were a boat dealer I would much rather have tackle folks in there than guides.

I could give a crap about Turkey hunting in Alaska,,

More Fishing boats in the show...

Just kidding, I'm selfish and really want to have our company at the show. Let me know if you have a contact I can get in touch with about space.

I am of the same opinion. Great to see the show and Stokley's pulling names like Clunn and KVD for seminars but really disappointing to give them 25 minutes. Dave Stewart's seminar involved kids and he had to rush to get the kids involved. I also agree that I would like to see more tackle and less stuffed zebras.

    RE: Lexington Boat Show

I was there because I was doing seminars...lol. I enjoyed being there and meeting a lot of folks from this board and others that I had never gotten to meet face to face before.

The time factor mentioned here about the seminars was the only complaint I heard from many of the attendees other than they would like to see more tackle..especially bass fishing tackle.

From a speakers point of view about the time factor:

All the fishing shows I have worked schedule you for a one hour slot and expect you to do about 40-45 minutes of seminar and then spend time with the folks before the next seminar. We (Kevin, Rick and myself) were limited to 20 minutes for our seminars. Being used to doing 40-45 minute canned seminars this made us feel a bit rushed for sure. I think you will find this the case no matter who is invited to speak at the show since we are all used to doing longer seminars.

Anyway, I have been tentively invited back to next year's show and hope things work out so that I can be there.

I agree with you, more fishing boats would be a plus. More bass tackle as well. I spent more time at your recent show because of the boats and tackle. If Joe Thomas was available i think that would bring a huge croud. JMO

I agree with the suggestions of more time for the speakers and more tackle. It would be nice to see tackle companies attending.

I to was disapointed to see that when I got there the seminars were totaly over. I new I was running a few minutes behind getting there but man that was just too short I didn't see any of the seminars.
I'd also like to see Plapps get a spot this year heard a lot of good stuff about them.
