    RE: Favorite fish story...

It was the last day of the fishing year Feb 28th. I was taking my two young sons ( 2 & 3 yrs. old ) bluegill fishing. I got to the edge of the water of a small lake about 4 or 5 acres in size. I baited up a wax worm on a small popeye jig with a bobber set about 3 feet above the jig. i told my boys to watch as daddy threw out the pole, it was just a small pole, a 5 foot spinning rod with 4 or 6 lb test line. With both boys watching as the bait hit the water. Not two seconds went by and the bobber disapeared. I reared back and set the hook, right away I knew I had hooked into something big...I told the boys I got a big one on....They started screaming and yelling like it was the greatest thing in the world.... There was another man fishing across the lake on the other side and both boys started yelling at him that I had a monster fish on my line... After about 10 or so minutes of playing the fish and listening to the boys yelling and excitement I finally got the fish in close enough to see what it was. it was a big Channel Catfish... But man when teh boys saw it they went even crazier than before, anyway after what seemed like an eternity I got it close to the bank and as I was leaning down the two foot drop to grab the fish in the gills.... Guess what happened?... Yep the line broke...Well I didn't play that fish that long to let it get away when the line broke...in one quick motion I reached down and scouped the fish up and onto the shore before he could swim off.... Now with both boys jumping up and down and yelling at the man across the leke even louder now, I put the fish on a stringer and carriered it to the truck. After getting it to the house I weighed it and measured it...weighed 12 lbs and was 28 inchs long...funny thing was it was exactly the same length as my two year old son at the time and he just couldn't believe that ther was a fish in the world as big as he was... Anyway to make things even better I called up a buddy of mine and we took the fish to his pond and released it to be caught another day by someone else.... P.S. To this day my Two year old swears he was the one that caught the fish since I told him that it was his pole that we caught the fish on, so he thinks he caught the fish still...lol

    RE: Favorite fish story...

It was a hazy spring morning. As the sun had begun to rise, the water had a layer of what looked like steam rising up from it. The water was completely still and I felt as if I were in a dream. I slowly trolled along the small creek channel to a point where it narrowed; it had “ambush spot” written all over it! Just then, on a narrow log floating in the water and sticking out about 15 yards off the bank, a squirrel happily scampered down it. At the very end of the log, there was an acorn perched perfectly in the center. The squirrel picked it up, sat down, and began to nibble away at its newly found meal. Just then, out of no where, a monster bass that would tip the scales to the ten pound mark leaped up and took the squirrel down to its watery death. I stood in awe, shocked at how such a happy little squirrel so quickly faced its death. The little acorn on which he was nibbling was floating so sadly there by the log. Just then, the same bass swam up to the acorn and took it under! Then, in a matter of seconds, the bass surfaced, placed the acorn back on the log, turned to me, winked, and was gone!

That's one of my favorite stories told by a Mr. Homer Circle. The guy knows some great stories!
