IT CAN BE FUN AND IT CAN BE FRUSTRATING. I USE WHITE JIGS & ZOOM SPEED CRAWS ON BLUFF WALL IN CLEAR WATER.20FT + DEEP .

Without going into too much detail, Smallmouth fishing in my opinion is some of the best fishing of the year in November, December and January. I don't know where you live but Dale Hollow, Cumberland, Laurel, and KY Lake all have excellent Smallmouth fishing in KY. Float N Fly, jigs, Silver Buddy, crankbaits, jerkbaits and shiners will catch excellent quality fish during this periods under various conditions. FNF, Silver Buddy and Jigs are pretty much what I use during this period. They may not fight with exactly the same tenacity as during the summer when their metabolism is faster but they still put up an outstanding struggle all the same. Good Luck. This is my 3rd winter owning my boat and it has never been winterized for it goes to the lake all year. I don't fish for Bucketmouths during the winter so somebody else will have to chime in on the Greenfish side of the story.

As I have learned O so well this week, the green fish will bite this time of year, just need to look to the smaller farm ponds to produce fish, go small and slow, you will catch some bigguns on those sunny days in the winter

Hey, Elnut, there's not much to talk about on that green side. But I will tell you that you're right on most of your statement. Nice fish, by the way, on those pics from Billy.

Believe it or not I caught a 4lb Largemouth three winters ago in late January at Jacobson Park using a float and fly crappie fishing. I almost died. It was like 1am when I caught it and I thought I was crazy for going out there so late but what's a guy to do after work that late besides fish!!

My best bass, 6.4 lbs, came off of Barkley on a mid-February day. The water was quite cold, but the air was warm that day.

I am sorry to say, I don't seem to be the enthusiast that those of you who fish in the snow are.
