>HOW CAN THEY HAVE A SHORTER
>SIZE LIMIT FOR THE TOURNAMENTS???????
EASY .... catch, measure, release --- it's called a "paper size limit", he/they who catch the most "total" inches, wins. It's a "gentlemans agreement" to be honest in your measurements.
There would HAVE to be rules of this nature used, to even think of having a tourney on this lake.
Let's ask the "busters" & "outfitters" about the RULES they intend to use in their OPEN tourney -- how's that gonna work ? Just how many 20+ inch fish do we think are in this lake, already ??
I don't think this lake was designed for tournament use, given the size of it - the "trophy" nature of it - and the age of it. And if I remember correctly ... the "first" tournament held there, there were no "legal" fish caught - therefore, no fish "weighed in". That should have been a red flag !!
I'm not anti-tournament ... but the lake rules (size/creel limit) dictate that it be given time to produce more than a handful of "legal" fish. I'm more concerned about the "trashing" of the lake - the "meathogs" REMOVING short fish - and the introduction of Shad.
And what's going to happen when the lake DOES start producing numbers of 20+ inch fish ?? Instinct tells me the KDFWR is going to raise the length limit. Then we're back to square one.
It'll be interesting to watch how all this plays out. .... cp
