    Federation Leaving BASS Just In!!

Now on bassfan you can see that the majority of states chose to leave bass and plan on going with FLW. Opinions on the situation im sure everone has one one way or another.

    More questions now...

    Thanks for the update.

I just checked the site, and I am anxiously awaiting the full article.

I am curious though, it was my understanding that the KY members voted to stay with BASS. However, KY was not listed as one of the four states that voted to remain with BASS, what's up with that?

Also, now what will this mean for federation afilliated clubs? Will the federation require membership into the FLW Outdoors?

In any case, I can hardly wait to get back out on the water. I have an itching casting hand now!!

    PS, another question...

Will this result in two "federation" type organizations in the state to serve the interst of those that want to stay with BASS?

Change is exciting, unless you disagree with the direction of the change.

    RE: PS, another question...

some interesting points. It was my understanding though from our last club meeting that almost all of the clubs in the state had voted to stay with the federation no matter what the board decided to do, whether stay with BASS or go with FLW.

RE: Federation will go with FLW

KBF has voted to go with FLW and to not continue its relationship with BASS. I think the offer that FLW & Irwin Jacobs has brought to the table is amazing and offers much more in return to the TBF members and more opportuities for us to move on to the next level!

As before when you fished the KBF, you had to be a BASS member, now it will be you will need to be a FLW member, however do not know when this will start. The state meeting will be the 1st saturday at the Louisville Boat Show.

RE: Federation Leaving BASS Just In!!

"The Federation" will go to FLW. So any state that wants to stay affiliated with "The Federation" will go to FLW.

The "Federation Nation" will be affiliated with BASS. So any club that wants to be affiliated with BASS will have to join the "Federation Nation".

This is the way I understand what I have read so far on BassFan and FLW.

    Danny,
The KBF decided, by a almost unaminous vote, to stay with the TBF, Inc.----that was by our clubs Presients. So, whatever way the TBF decided to go is what KY is going to do. Had they decided to stay with BASS, then that's where we would have been. But, they decided to go with FLW and I am looking forward to seeing outcome of all of this. I think Irwin Jacobs has given the TBF(The Bass Federation) some great opportunities--and even at the same price that BASS was charging--$25 a year.
I do know that BASS is intending on having the Federation Nation in every state regardless of what each state had voted on. They have said that they will come in and make the Federation Nation bigger and better then the original BASS Federation ever thought about. I find this hard to believe because as of right now, the KBF has roughly 1500 members. How is BASS going to find 1500+ members in KY. I don't think it's going to happen. You could technically be a member of both and that may work for BASS, but I doubt it. I hope everybody wakes up to the business side of BASS and realizes they practice bad business and could care less about the average fishermen. All they want is money. Now Irwin Jacobs wants money too---but at least he's offering something alot better. I guess you could say he is sugar coating it a little better. That's fine by us. Glad to see the change take place.

RE: Federation will go with FLW

One thing that stands out to me is that this makes total sense. IF, and that is a big IF, I remember correctly, Ranger really supports the KBF, and many state federations. It just seems to make sense to dance with who brung ya.

Us Triton guys won't be frozen out either, I don't think. One thing I've seen from the BFLs, Ranger guys get first dibbs maybe, but they really don't seem to be unfair to the other boat brand owners.

RE: Federation will go with FLW

Danny, every year the KBF board votes on a boat sponsor. Yes, Ranger has been very good to the KBF and has always brought the best offer to the table. So, here again with Ranger,FLW being together, it just makes good sense to go there way.
MY disclaimer: nothing wrong with any other brand of boat---bottomline, Ranger arguably gave the best offer every year I was on the board. The other companies offers just didn't suit our needs as a whole KBF organization. Mike McDonald(Ranger Rep) has always made a presence at just about every tournament I can remember the KBF having over the last 8 years that I have been a member. If he didn't personally show up--he had somebody that did. That says alot for him and Ranger. There are alot of tournaments he could be at, but makes time for the KBF when we have a tournament.

    RE: More questions now...

Mark, You are correct, this is nothing new. You always no your facts. The KBF has 1500 members, but how many fish KBF tournaments? Isn't it more like 400 maybe? The reason IMHO is the club insurance as well as the life insurance each member has. This is one of the biggest benifits that the KBF has to offer. You are also correct there is no way the federation nation is going to come into Kentucky or any other state and come up with equal or greater numbers then the federations have now. There are not enough anglers to go around. BASS has too many things going on, the weekend series IMO was to compete with the federations and now this federation nation. Something has got to give. Just try to set up a club schedule, there is something on just about every weekend.
Too many tournaments not enough time.
Hope too see you on the water.

    RE: More questions now...

    George,
You are right, the the actual number of tournament anglers from the KBF is about 300, and you are right, the insurance is a big draw for clubs. I am hoping FLW will get all of that stuff wokred out, but on top of that, it looks like the FLW is going to offer even more stuff to all of the fishermen, not just the tournament anglers. So, IMHO, it looks like a win-win situation.
You're also right, it's very hard to schedule anything anymore. There's only so many weekends available.
