what is fnf?
float n fly!
Smally If you are after Smallmouth Rough is not the place. I have never heard of fnf on rough, but it might work around the shad jumps.
The FNF requires pretty clear water to be effective since it's not moving a lot of water dangling there.... Rough, Barren, Barkley, the Ohio River or any like water that is typically stained is pretty tough. Heck, I usually have to let things soak a little while to get a larry to hit in the winter.
My recommendation is don't waste your time with this technique or go to Green River, Dale, Cumberland, etc.
If you can find some fairly clear water it will work. Depths of around 10 feet are required normally but can be fished shallower if you have to. On Rough if the weather has been steady and the water is not muddy it will work. Fish feed and mate in muddy water all the time. You might want to put some kind of small rattle or glass beads on it to improve the bite but I dont see a reason for the Float and Fly not to work. May even work well on crappie on that lake.
